Slightly quieter spell for Walker Broad this week. We've been concentrating on writing again, we have four new songs on the go at the moment. Two I've mentioned before - If Can do and Pointless - and I recently wrote two extra verses for a jazz standardish one called Centrepiece so our version has 4 verses, it's got a lovely walking bass which took me ages to learn to sing over whilst playing it at the same time. The fourth is one I wrote most of and was the first song I sang to Andy when we started working together last year. I remember being terrified of his reaction, not knowing him very well at the time, and we worked on it a bit and then it was put away till now. It's become a bit reggae-like and the, mainly autobiographical, lyrics are a mixture of silly and serious. I really like it, it is great fun to play, we keep fighting over solos in it. Andy wins cos I'm still new to the confidence to solo. Not for long though
I'm learning a new opera song by Monteverdi, all about wanting to die - really cheerful stuff!
