Living it large with Red Shoes Views: 2430

We were keepers of the door last night at the RMA Gunroom for a wonderfully intimate gig with Red Shoes http://www.myspace.com/redshoes1 They’re a folk duo from up Birmingham way and rather marvellous indeed. Our friend Dan (the inimitable one from the Saturday Shenanigans blog) decided it was time for us down South to hear the marvellous pair and arranged the gig. There was much nailbiting and a little wailing and gnashing of teeth in case not enough people turned out on the dreary rainy evening, but Dan need not have worried, the evening was a roaring success. There was support from the fresh light hearted acoustic original artist Libby Laboo www.myspace.com/libbylaboo . Just before the interval Red Shoes invited participation from the audience and I piped up asking to do some harmonies, I was later called up to do the honours for Celtic Moon, the song that has been covered by Fairport Convention. Later Dan sang with Caroline on two Sandy Denny favourites and a marvellous job he did! Overall a really successful evening and we managed to make all the sums add up at the end!
