Fairport Convention live! Views: 2468

They may have been around a while but Fairport Convention http://www.fairportconvention.com still know how to bring the house down! We ventured forth last night to the Forest Folk Club at Boarhunt having managed to bag the last two tickets to the gig 5 weeks ago!
Kicking off procedings were the splendid Gardener who played a couple of tracks one of which was a Jethro Tull number and they were joined by a very well known drummer and bass player. No prizes for guessing who!
Next we were treated to a couple of songs from Robert Brown http://www.robertbrownmusic.net/ one on acoustic guitar and one on the dulcimer with a drone.
Fairport were magnificent, slick, skillful, tuneful and funny all at the same time! They played my favourite track from their new album 'Festival Bell' - Danny Jacks Reward. I'm surprised there isn't a hole in the cd where I've played it so much! I would just like to point out that Ric (composer of said ditty) gave me two kisses for telling him how much I liked it (an increase of one kiss on last time I told him!) I realise I may recieve hate mail from the groupies after this but I am willing to put up with it and wager there will be many more kisses to share all round. One of the loveliest things about the Fairport guys is the lack of ego and the willingness to mingle with us lower mortals. It makes me happy.
So we left humming Fairport tunes and feeling that all is right with the world. Thank you Simon, Ric, Gerry, Peggy and Chris you are all splendid!
