Jamming at the Florence and pointless inspiration! Views: 2230

Sunday saw us at the Florence Arms in southsea at the monthly jam Andy runs there. It was a bit different this month, there was a good balance of different people with two solo spots and we teamed up with Cath http://www.missdemena.co.uk/ and Simon http://www.slymedesign.co.uk to do a song they'd written. I did the harmony to Caths vocals and Andy did a banging guitar solo. Not bad considering we'd only heard the song once before some many weeks and several bottles of wine previously. It was great to see Simon, usually a bass player, playing his acoustic guitar (very beautiful sleek black affair) and being so nervous about it. It heartens those of us who've only been performing for a while to see a performer of many years pacing the floor with nerves. Needless to say Simon was marvellous and the song was well recieved. I truly do love singing harmonies it's like musical webweaving.
Later in the day Andy and I did some work on new songs and then I typed up a poem/song I had written whilst in a bleak mood the other day. It's called Pointless. I posted it on Grimney for comment http://www.thelandofgrimney.co.uk saying I didn't know if it would be a song and would wait and see if music would come. Then a musical elf who had been playing a riff over and over behind me said, 'what about this, it's been inspired by what you wrote.' 15 minutes later we had the basics of what is likely to become a folk rock song. Jolly spiffing I say!
Much love xx
