Tuesday Lounge and the pending song competition Views: 2315

We were drafted in at the last minute to Dan's Tuesday Lounge at the RMA Tavern http://www.rmatavern.co.uk/ tonight. I wasn't feeling on top form, still coughing for England but we went on first so I was then able to sit back and enjoy the rest of the acts, lovely! We had Glenn Malo playing his favourite Missippi John Hurt numbers on his lovely shiny dobro and Dan Ogus playing and singing so well which, if you've been following the blog, you already know he does since I have banged on about it once or twice. Still these lovely chaps didn't quite lift me out of my poorly state so it was down to Jonny Bell http://www.myspace.com/jonnybelluk to do it. He did it so well, as soon as he started his french version of Wild Thing I started to feel revived. Then all uphill from there! He played a song he had only just finished writing today and you never would have known it was so new. Lots of originals and a cover or two thrown in for good measure. Thanks Jonny for chasing my cobwebs away!
So, tomorrow I am being unfaithful to Andy as I am starting rehearsals for a new punk ska band in which I revive my flagging saxophone career. I don't feel guilty, Andy has been a musical tart for many years and regularly plays with others! Should be fun!
Then Thursday! It's all about the song - the competition being run at the Eastney Cellars which we foolishly decided to enter. I am not one for competitions but in this case we thought what the heck, lets give it a whirl. IF you are at a loose end, the entry fee is £1, a bargain to see 5 acts sing/play some of their best material. Look forward to seeing you there. xxx
