Recording a recording session, tuneful newt mark one! Views: 2445

Today we decided to have a go at recording a recording session ready to get a video done for you tube type postage. I cycled far and wide to reach the Bluesmans house and arrived glowing (!) and hacking like I smoke 40 a day! (I don't!) I rang Andy earlier in the day to check what i needed to bring with me, video camera, mic, me - check! As I stood upon the Gosport Ferry I realised there was one other thing that was required and that was a recording disc for the video camera. There was one in the camera but it was a dodgy one that I had had trouble with before.
Nevertheless I ploughed on and reached the Bluesmans abode with said dodgy camera and as I said coughing like a demon. Quick warm up and recording 'Quiet joys of Brotherhood' being the order of the day. Voice not too bad but still not quite there at the top end so after four takes I decided this was not a good day to be trying to make our fortune via you tube. Not quite in frog mode more like tuneful newt. Andy did a valiant job trying to get the camera to behave but to no avail, by the time he'd managed to uplight me enough so that my many chins were not evident the camera had decided to give up the ghost and would record no more! Not a waste though, we have learned more about the workings of the camera and have some more ideas about how to record the next time. Another week and maybe I'll be singing in full flood again.
I do hope so!
