Sea Shepherds evening and blues jam of the very highest order! Views: 2612

Saturday we were opening act for the Sea Shepherds http://www.seashepherd.org/ fund raiser at the Edge of the Wedge http://www.wedgewood-rooms.co.uk/WhatsOn/InTheEdge/EDGEOFTHEWEDGEpresents.aspx in Southsea. What a great evening and I was really gobsmacked to hear about the work those guys to do to safeguard the endangered species of our seas. We were the mellow start and were followed by a talk about the amazing work that goes on to support the Whales, seals and other species from being illegally slaughtered. I don't know how much was raised but I hope we helped a bit! They have seriously cool T-Shirts too and I think I will be ordering one of those, I didn't realise how shallow I am!
Sunday was the regular blues jam, being as it is the beginning of the month, at the Florence arms a most salubrious venue. There was lots of talent around, I had a bash at playing bass for some blues songs as well as piano and singing one of our newer ones, 'Undeserver' which was a challenge as the PA kept cutting out so I had to sing totally acoustic at times! Very hard work! It was a great jam though, lots of variety. Shep Woolley http://www.shepwoolley.co.uk/ treated us to some wonderful songs with a fine set of new strings, Message from Avalon http://www.myspace.com/messagefromavalon were in fine voice despite the PA problems and MadcapHan played us her newest song, which was fabulous! Wonderful event one I always look forward too, guaranteed to lift the spirits! If you haven't been before you should definately start going!
