Burnt Ice at the Fawcett Inn Views: 2134

I was living it large in the audience last night for a Burnt Ice gig, Andy's funky blues band. They were totally splendid as always. No link required for Andy who you all already know as being the man responsible for the wandering, banging seriously sassy blues solos, literally wandering all over the pub! Not enough that though, oh no, also we have the stupendous Martin Bird on guitar http://www.martin-bird.co.uk/ who was providing our ears with another feast of solos which painted the walls of your mind with beautiful colours AND we had Simon Tufnail http://www.slymedesign.co.uk/ bass player beyond compare who played solos which quite literally made the hormones dance with the deep throaty bass thumping. Depping in on drums was the lovely Chaz doing a sterling job never having played with them before, you done good boy!
The audience were quality of course and the venue was great. There are new landlordy/lady types in there and they are really friendly. The Fawcett has been blessed with a terrible reputation in past years and it is still a work in progress to get people to come back. All I can say is, forget the past this is a lovely pub in a great position with brilliant owners who haven't yet decided if they want to stay, so lets get back in there and persuade them it's a good idea. It would be tragic to lose another venue especially one of this potential. There is regular live music and if you're really lucky you might get to see us there soon! I know, calm down!
As an audience myself, Cath http://www.missdemena.co.uk/ , Simon (Caths bro) and Andy (long time friend and occasional heckler of Burnt Ice) were possibly not the best behaved. In my case I blame this fully on the rum and the company (which was rum
) and claim diminshed responsibility on these grounds. I was not barred, this is a good sign. Checkout Andy's giglist (see links page) for future Burnt Ice dos, they are such a good night out!
Many kisses.
