Centrepiece at the Auckland Arms and missing Dave Grohl Views: 2538

Andy and I were out last night at the Auckland Arms in Southsea courtesy of Dave and Helene, possibly the most welcoming landlords known throughout history! Many of our potential regular audience have deserted us for the IOW festival, forgiven seeing as Foo Fighters are there, but there was a core of appreciative souls who were lovely to play for.
It was the first outing for the latest song we have finished, Centrepiece (previously mentioned in Musical pic 'n mix). Yes, I hear you shout, that's not a new song, which is true it was written by Edison and Lambert in the 50s, implanted in a song called Harry's house by the stunning Joni Mitchell from whence I plucked it and decided we ought to do it. Edison and Lambert only wrote two verses which I decided weren't enough so I wrote two more and voila we have a jazz song written in two very different decades. It has a lovely walking bass and Andy's guitar solo is banging! Enjoyed the first outing of Centrepiece.
The only thing that has slightly perturbed me this week is discovering that the very splendid guitarist (Hi Tom) from one of the bands I've played sax for (Manila) reported that his mum has met and spoken to Dave Grohl, of aforementioned Foo Fighters. I am not happy about this, I do not understand why it was not me destined to meet him in order to fall at his feet. Clearly our time has not yet come!
