Bordering on Bedlam Views: 2990

Exciting news! The final version of Bordering on Bedlam is almost ready for release and will be appearing at this website shortly! It is a song written about Borderline Personality Disorder, a mental health problem that affects many thousands of people across the world. For lots of reasons it is a subject close to my heart and I am really glad that this song is going to be included in a book of the same name, due to be released in 2012. In the box is a brief outline written by the author.
Bordering on Bedlam
As a metafiction, Bordering on Bedlam is intended to cross-over multiple genres in terms of reception (self-help, memoir, poetry, fiction, non-fiction) and well as format (graphic novel, poetry, and academic treatise on madness and the history of BPD). Using such ideas, the “borderline” is played out in terms of both form and content, with the concept being that only such forms can enable us to “accurately” reflect what is “essentially” such an unstable condition. What holds these various threads together is an ongoing “narrative” of a BPD sufferer and a history of the condition, making the book useful for sufferers as well as blurring the boundaries between different genres.
Will Slocombe
It’s the brainchild of Will Slocombe, English lecturer from Aberystwyth university, and is going to be a collaborative work between people with the disorder, mental health professionals, academics, artists of various sorts and I am so proud that we are going to be part of it! It is certain to help reduce stigma towards people with the disorder and that won’t be a minute too soon!
Keep checking back for the song to appear it should not be long now!
Looking forward to an inclusive tomorrow
