Almost bursting into tears and a new addition to the musical family Views: 2178

Busy old week again, is there any other sort? Andy and I went off to The Bluebell in Cocking again on Sunday for another very tunefully marvellous singaround. We played a few tunes, joined in on a few and generally had a good time. We did the Eric Bogle song 'No Man's Land' a beautiful folk song based around a conversation with a 19 year old soldier who was killed in WW1. It is such a moving song and I was completely lost in it to the extent that I had to sit down afterwards and couldn't speak properly for a while afterwards as I was fighting back the tears. Such a powerful song, I hope I did it justice. We will be sure to do it at the next few gigs too so if you want to hear it do pop along.
Rehearsals last night where we are working up the next four songs in the list for recording to go on the long awaited first album. All went jolly well overall, but the most exciting news of the week for me is the arrival of the newest member of my musical family. A lovely red shiny accordian. Oh, it is so beautiful and oh it is so heavy! It is a small one, not full size with keys on the right and lots of buttons on the left. What fun I am having deafening the children with my trial squeezings! It has already made itself felt on two of the songs we are doing a Bessie Smith number and Tiny Tim a rock n rolly bluesy thing we do. Can't wait to give it an airing in public!
Next gigs, Tues 24th at the Golden Lion in Southwick and then the Friday 27th at the Auckland ARms in Southsea. Hope to see you there! xxx
