Building Sound Castles in the Dug Out Views: 4403

Another exhausting, but highly productive day at the Dug Out Studios http://www.dugoutstudio.co.uk/ playing rhythm tracks, solos and warbling merrily. Sometimes not so merrily as we do the fourth take of one song! Geoff does us a rough mix of the songs to take home to listen to and I found last time that I couldn't listen to them straight away cos they grated on me having done the same tracks over and over during the day. This time was different, I was able to put them on almost straight away and could actually bear the sound of them!

We recorded the rhythm tracks for four more songs, so now have the basics of 8 tracks down, then some guitar solos and main vocals for three of them now in the bag! The first CD was labelled 'rough mixes' and rough they were, there were many mistakes to be noted and corrected this time and it felt a little bit disheartening as they didn't sound much different to recording them ourselves. The difference this time is wonderful! This new 'rough mix' is so much more rich, the layers of sound are building and the songs really take the shape I imagined them having when first they were conceived. The day just flew by and although I am knackered beyond belief, it is the best sort of knackered you could possibly be!

I love building sound castles at the Dug Out! Laughing
