Bad week not taking my own advice, a review in Blues in Britian and the most beautiful piece of furniture ever invented Views: 1799

You know those weeks that just fly by, days, evenings full of activity, sleep something that is shoved into the maelstrom as a minimalist regeneration option, then someone asks you what you've been doing all week and your mind goes blank? I have known little else for many months now and, as in the newspaper article in the last blog, usually find that the spaces in my life where music happens is where the real chilling out happens and this makes me more efficient, capable and generally pleasant to be around. Over the last two weeks, even music seems to have been squeezed out. Our Tues rehearsal didn't happen, there've been no gigs and I haven't touched a piano, sax, bass, drum nor even uttered a single note of melodious squawking. I noticed in the middle of this week, my stress levels are up, I am grumpy and quite honestly, best avoided. A little voice in my head says, play the piano, sing something and a louder voice says 'I haven't got time!' What nonsense! How quickly we get into these little negative loops of self-destruction. I know my stress is partly due to not having enough music in my weeks but then find myself too lethargic and tired to actually do the thing I need to do to perk myself up. Tut, should take my own advice.

We did have an album review in 'Blues in Britain' which was a little lightener to the week,  you can read it here.. and, the end of the week was marked by the arrival, at a very ungodly early hour, of my newest purchase. My chest of drawers had given up the ghost, so I went on a search for something suitable to replace it last weekend and found what is surely the most beautiful piece of furniture ever made! It is an Art Deco, blonde maple dressing table with original mirror in situ. It is gorgeous. Every visitor to my house since its arrival, regardless of how well I know them, has been dragged upstairs to see the item and I have had to resist the urge to usher in passers by just to show it off! I am taking bookings for public viewings, just let me know Cool
