Nomination for Blues Awards followed by a troubled drive to Nottingham with a terrific ending. Views: 2173

There has been much excitement in the WB camps this week as the fundamentally wise and supremely marvellous Paul Stiles, one of the Radio DJ's that first played our CD "A Walk Abroad" in the run up to the launch in November, has nominated our song "Play Me Some Blues" for the Kevin Thorpe Memorial Award for Original Blues Song, part of the 2013 Britsh Blues Awards. This is most cool and has caused serious amounts of hysteria in my household alone.
Each of the participating radio stations nominates 4 songs which they then play on their show allowing the public to vote for the best one for each station. The songs from each station with the most votes go through to the next round.
Paul Stiles' voting page is here: Uk Blues Today Voting so please do visit it and take the couple of minutes it takes to vote for us!
There more info on the BBA here British Blues Awards and the KT Award here K T Award . Pauls radio station is here: Radio Seagull and more info on his show in particular can be found here: U K Blues Today. Paul will being playing his 4 nominated songs on his show on Sunday 24th of March.
So amid all this excitement half the band (namely The Bluesman and I) donned our travelling shoes and drove up to Nottingham on Friday to do a live set in the studio for the lovely Colin Etches at Trent Sound http://www.trentsound.com/ . We were stuck in traffic multiple times, the weather was less than clement with fog and drizzle all the way and we arrived with about 1 minute to go all the way there. I had been cold all the way too and we went on within the first 20 mins of the show so I was still shivering! My voice just about held up and by the time I was expected to sing Bonnie Raitt style I was just about there
It was a great show, Colin and crew made us feel right at home and after a couple of sets we had a chat in the studio followed by another set then we set off back down south, back out in the fog 'n all. Really glad we went and there will be a listen again link available soon for your listening pleasure if you weren't there the first time around.
